A couple of friends had been to one of these meets a few months ago and said how good it was. The weather was much better then than forecasted for Sunday. We decided to give it a shot and drive the hours’ journey to the other side of the M25, unknown what the weather was actually going to be like.
The weather on the drive was awful. We had heavy rain and the roads were busy. Luckily, causing no delays. We got to the meet 15 minutes before it began. We were directed to the back of the car park by the organiser where we stumbled upon a few other modified cars: a Nissan GTR; a Mazda MX5 with an Aston Martin-style front bumper; and an Audi S3.
After following suit and finding somewhere to park up, we headed to the little cafe they have on-site where they sell hot and cold food and drinks and have an undercover seating area for you to sit and enjoy the views. As we placed our orders, modified cars started pouring into the car park. From Ford Fiestas (there were loads of them) to a Ford GT40 to an old American pickup. This really was a meet for anyone.
While sitting and admiring the cars, we realised we were sitting under a flight path for aeroplanes arriving and departing Heathrow airport. So not only could we admire the cars, but we could also watch the planes going over us. You also have the view of the River Thames that runs through the park, where you can watch boats go by or people kayaking.
Back to the cars though, the whole car park soon filled up with a wide range of cars. Me and a friend took some photos of our favourites as seen below:
